A Saviour For All Your Skin Problems

I love multi-use products, they make it seem like you get more for your money! Versatility in a product is amazing, whether it be that your lippie is also a blush, your face oil can be used in your hair if you're in a pinch, or in this case that your lip balm is also an all-purpose skin remedy.

The Saviour Skin Balm is a product by Antipodes, which is a New Zealand owned skincare and makeup line that excels in all things natural. I've recently been adding more and more of their products into my beauty routine and this is my latest addition.

Name: Saviour Skin Balm
Size: 75 grams
Price: around $46 NZD
Expiry after opening: 12 months

The Saviour Skin Balm is a pure and natural all-purpose skin remedy that is said to bring rescue daily, which I can vouch for. Its description says it will "dramatically reduce dryness and offer salvation to skin troubles with this everyday skin remedy for the whole family. Natures richest oils blend with the power-packed antibacterial properties of Australian tea tree and New Zealand Totara, while antioxidant-rich Vinanza Grape from grape seeds optimises your skins appearance. A potent conditioning balm for everyday use. Suited for most skin conditions".

How they recommend using it:
Soften it between your fingers before applying to clean, dry skin on the trouble areas of your face, lips or body at the first sight they need care.

Antipodes state that it can be used to help:
  • tend to cuts and bruises
  • rescue cracked skin
  • intensely hydrate
  • care for skin troubles
  • treat damaged feet
  • care for baby naturally
  • condition cuticles
  • ease after-effects of the sun
  • protect after shaving
  • alleviate dry and parched skin
  • relieve effects of sore muscles
The product itself comes in a metal tin (which can be recycled when empty) and is packaged in a small cardboard box. The box is made from 100% biodegradable cardboard made from sustainable forests and can be recycled also. The skin balm is vegetarian society approved like most Antipodes products.

The ingredient list is made up of recognisable ingredients which to me seems quite beneficial as I'm able to understand what is in the products I am using. See below for the list:

Ingredients:
Ricinus communis (castor seed) oil, Limnanthes alba (meadowfoam) oil, Helianthus annuus (sunflower seed) oil, Cera alba (beeswax), Daucus carota sativa (carrot seed) oil, Calendula officinalis (calendula flower) oil, theobroma cacao (cocoa seed) butter, Hypericum perforatum (St John's wort) extract, Butyropserum parkii (shea) butter, Pisium sativum (pea) extract, Melaleuca alternifolia (tea tree) oil, Vitis vinifera (Vinanza Grape grape seed) extract, panthenol, Santalum album (sandlewood) oil, Anthemis nobilis (chamomile flower) extract, Echinacea purpurea (echinacea) extract, Totarol (totara) extract, hesperidin.

Wow that took a while to type out! Sorry if there are spelling errors in any of those scientific names.

The verdict:
I've been using this religiously for around two weeks and I've barely made a dent, which makes me think that this is going to last me a long time. While the price is a little steep, the versatility and amount of product makes up for it. Its extremely hydrating and I love using it on my lips especially as the winter air seems to dry them out like crazy.
My boyfriend has been using them on his eczema patches which he gets on the inside of his arms and a small patch on the hairline of his forehead. While he isn't as consistent as I would like him to be (bloody males), there has been a noticeable difference and reduction in them.
All in all, I think this is a great product. It has a slight medicinal smell but nothing too strong or overpowering and in my opinion I quite like it.

So if you suffer from dry skin, chapped lips or just need something soothe your skin then this is the thing for you. I purchased mine through Fly Buys, but you can also purchase from the Antipodes website. Their products can also be purchased from Farmers.

Thanks so much for reading!
